20's plenty for Linthwaite School.

Talking on the doorstep to local residents, Colne Valley Labour members found that speeding past Linthwaite Clough School was a problem. So they started a campaign to reduce the speed limits to 20mph outside schools, playgrounds and nurseries.

Working with the student council and head teacher, Gail Newton, members helped the students design leaflets for delivery in the local area. The students have also collected hundreds of signatures from parents and have run school assemblies on the topic

Thelma Walker, Colne Valley Women’s officer said, “It’s been fantastic working with the students on something they feel passionate about. They‘ve come up with lots of the ideas about how we can make it happen and bring a real change to our community. We want to get more people involved with a 20’s Plenty campaign around our schools, nurseries and playgrounds.”
