Colne Valley members select Jane East as their Parliamentary Candidate.
On Saturday July 12th, members of Colne Valley Labour Party selected Jane East as their candidate for the 2015 General Election.
Four women had been shortlisted. Each of them made a speech, followed by a question and answer session, before members voted.
Jane said, “I am overwhelmed by the support that I have received over the last few weeks. We are a strong and vibrant party who will make it clear to the people of Colne Valley what damage the Tory MP Jason McCartney and his party are doing to our country. I will fight as hard as I can to keep our NHS public, and for what is right and fair. The campaign starts now, and I look forward to moving into the Constituency within the next few weeks.”
Steve Morris, Constituency Chair, said, “We are delighted to have Jane as our Parliamentary Candidate. She has a wealth of knowledge and experience from working for organisations like Christian Aid and Amnesty International. She has a lot to offer to the people of the Colne and Holme Valleys and the country as a whole as the next MP for Colne Valley.”
